I take portraits a lot. Like, a -lot- (but still not as much as I’d like, tbh). Mostly this is because I’ve been working on my 1000 Portrait Project.
You may be wondering, why would you have a page called Portraits when you have one for the 1000 Portrait Project - aren’t they essentially the same thing?
It’s a fair question. One I won’t be answering. Hope you enjoy the pics!
Shai, at Studio Brunswick, October 2019.
Photographer and model, Danielle, in Millgrove. October, 2019.
The vibrant, kind-hearted Gareth Hart - huge in the arts scene in the Dandenong Ranges, now bringing their ace work to Burrinja as Creative Director and CEO.
Lindy Harris from Karwarra Gardens in Kalorama. A brilliant place and a super interesting person. Here’s an ace article about her work (courtesy of The Age)
Maureen Wyse, one of the two masterminds behind Smith and Daughters and Smith and Deli (and their associated cookbooks). One of the brightest people I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting and photographing.
Shannon Martinez, the other mastermind (and head chef) of Smith and Daughters and Smith and Deli. Super passionate, super easygoing, an actual wizard when it comes to good, flavourful vegan food.
Louis Mendes, a well-known NYC photographer, photographed outside B&H photo. While this isn’t my best technical work, I love this because he only let me take one photo of them (in exchange for him photographing me and my partner at the time). That photo was this one, and I cooked the settings (but saved it later in Lightroom). He gave me another crack, but I love this photo more.
Justin Hill, a brilliantly talented photographer and extremely laid back fellow. Check out his work here.
One of my oldest friends, Hayley Davies, photographed in the back garden of my terribly shoddy rental house.
One of my best friends, Andrew Moller. The first photo in my 1000 Portrait Project and someone who has encouraged my growth as a photographer and as a person since we met. Check out his landscape photography!
